When it comes to pain relief, oftentimes we default to popping pills. It may not be a major issue if you just do it every once in awhile but many of us suffer from chronic pain. Chronic pain tends to necessitate more frequent reliance on anti-inflammatory medications for pain relief. One problem is that in Western medicine, anti-inflammatory pain relief generally equates to Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen and acetaminophen, which contribute to major health problems. According to the Mayo Clinic, some of the severe issues caused by long term use of NSAIDs can cause liver failure, heart attack and stroke.
